This program is one-of-a-kind. We have been bringing nations together since 1946. The program began with only 4 scholars, and now we are proud to say that we have more than 3,800 alumni from all over the world. The program’s purpose is to broaden the understanding of world peace through people and that is exactly what we’ve done.

Being a part of the Georgia Rotary Student Program has been one of the most profound experiences of my life. This program has afforded me the opportunity to forge lasting friendships with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. This, perhaps, is the greatest gift that one can hope to get for it allows us to see through differences across cultures and instead find similarities between one another. I feel that such fellowship across participants, both students and host families, is what made this program such an enriching experience for me.

Since 1946, Rotarians in Georgia, USA, have promoted world peace through understanding by offering ambassadorial scholarships to international students for one year cultural immersion and of study in Georgia colleges and universities.
Each year, students from all over the world make friends in the United States and other nations and learn about differing cultures and lifestyles. Georgia Rotarians believe “Peace is Possible” and through GRSP promote international goodwill through friendship and understanding.
The students become adopted members of a Georgia “host family,” living on-campus at the school they attend. This is an ambassadorial scholarship program, not an exchange!
Georgia Rotary Clubs sponsor students recommended by a Rotary Club in their home country.
⭐Student Spotlight: Julius Humpert – A Legacy of Peace from Germany to Georgia!
Julius Humpert of Germany is a Georgia Rotary Student Program scholar for the Class of 2025-2026, currently attending the University of Georgia . Julius is already making the most of his time in Athens, living at Reed Hall and soaking up the legendary tailgating atmosphere right outside his dorm. Julius’s journey to Georgia is especially meaningful—he is a proud second-generation GRSP scholar! His father, Christian Humpert, was a member of the GRSP Class of 1991-1992, attending Georgia Southern University with the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Statesboro. By following in his father’s footsteps, Julius is continuing a family tradition of international friendship and cultural bridge-building. Whether he’s exploring the UGA campus or cheering on the Bulldogs, Julius embodies the spirit of curiosity and connection that defines our program. He understands that the best way to foster global peace is through personal stories, shared experiences, and a mutual love for community—both in Germany and his new home in Georgia.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Rotary Club of Griffin for sponsoring Julius this year. Their support is not only providing a world-class experience for a talented student but is also honoring a multi-generational commitment to international understanding. We are so proud to have this legacy continue with Julius in Athens!

🔔Student Spotlight: Julia Carlotto Biral – Embracing Tradition and Psychology at Oglethorpe!
Julia Carlotto Biral of Brazil is a Georgia Rotary Student Program scholar for the Class of 2025-2026 studying at Oglethorpe University, where she is pursuing her passion for Psychology. Julia is already looking forward to one of the university’s most cherished traditions: ringing the historic bell. For Julia, that bell doesn't just signal a milestone; it represents the harmony and rhythm of a global community coming together. As a Psychology student, she understands deeply how traditions and shared experiences create the social bonds that foster peace and empathy. She’s also become quite the campus expert! Julia has a humorous "word of warning" for any visitors or new students: whatever you do, don't sit on the fraternity and sorority benches unless you’re prepared to join the organization! It’s this kind of lighthearted, "insider" knowledge that shows how beautifully she has integrated into American college life.
We are incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club of Dunwoody for their dedicated sponsorship of Julia’s journey. Through their support, they are providing Julia with the platform to share her Brazilian heritage while gaining a world-class education. By bridging the gap between Brazil and Atlanta with wit and wisdom, Julia is helping us build a world rooted in understanding. We can’t wait to hear that bell ring for her!
