Jim
Drake

Drake, Jr., (Jim), is a member of The Rotary Club of Savannah South,
Georgia, and served as its President during 1999-2000 Rotary year.
Jim served as a District 6920 Assistant Governor from
2002 to 2005, and as a District Director from 2005 to 2007, a position
in which he also served during the 2008-2009 Rotary year. He is a
multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Sustaining Member and Benefactor of The
Rotary Foundation. He served as Chair for the 2009 District 6920 Annual
Conference.
A Will Watt Fellow, a Hue Thomas Fellow and a Kendall
Wesigner Fellow, Jim served as a Trustee of The Georgia Rotary Student
Program from 2003 until July 2006, when he was elected its Vice Chair.
He served in that position until his election as Program Chair in July,
2008.
Jim is the founder and principal organizer of the Hue
Thomas, Jr., Weekend in Savannah, an annual event that offers each GRSP
class the opportunity to visit Georgia’s first city for a time of fun
and fellowship.
In 2009, Jim was named by The Rotary Club of Savannah
East as the Rotarian of the Year in Savannah.
Jim is a 1975 graduate of the University of Georgia
School of Law, and has practiced in Savannah since 1976.
Jim and his wife Lynn, a
United Methodist minister, are the proud parents of a daughter, Julia, a
recent graduate of
Wesleyan College
in
Macon,
Georgia.
